A few weeks ago, a Heritage in Schools specialist called Sinéad came into our classroom to teach our class about trees. The first day she came in, she brought tubs of leaves from different kinds of trees. We were given hand glasses to look at the leaves and examine possible insects on them. After that, we went outside to trace pieces of bark and rub paper against the tree using the side of a crayon. When we came inside, we did more art and got to use chalk to trace the outline of leaves. Some people even smudged the chalk to make it look like a firework. We would love to do it again. The second time Sinéad came, we also had a lot of fun. We investigated twigs and searched for faces on them. Later, we made wands out of twigs and decorated them using art materials such as ribbons and pipe cleaners. It was the best!
